23rd August 2010

INDEPENDENT Councillor Richard Bertin has raised his concerns about the proposal to introduce a new shift system at a local fire station.

The proposal for Penarth fire station known as selfrostering would mean fewer fire fighters working longer shifts as part of a risk reduction plan by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Councillor Bertin said I am extremely concerned about the proposals and I have written to be assured that public safety would not be compromised. I have raised these concerns with the fire authority.
