The Court Ward represents the Bassett, Witchell & Treharne areas of Barry and is situated on the eastern end of the town. It's Population is about 4,800 residents living in around 1,900 homes with the main make up of residents aged between 30 & 44. The ward has the highest number of unpaid carers in the county and has many socio-economic problems including high levels of health deprivation.

The ward is in receipt of Communities First funding from the Welsh Assembly Government for Community and Economic regeneration aid. This is known as the Court 3 project and covers the Treharne area of the ward.
